Tour description
Join us for an amazing sea adventure, hunting for the Northern Lights by boat. With the city lights in the background and, if we are lucky, the auroras cascading across the northern skies, this will be an experience to treasure!
Hunting for the Northern Lights from the ocean is an exceptional experience. Sailing away from the coastline of Reykjavik and searching for the Aurora Borealis out on the North Atlantic Ocean, with Iceland's striking mountains in the background, we’ll be in a perfect location for viewing the auroras in only 15-30 minutes.
We recommend trying the northern lights tour on your first night in Iceland, to give you the best chance possible of catching the auroras.

When the Northern Lights forecast looks good, but it's too windy to go out to sea, we will take our customers out for a Northern Lights tour on a bus – plus give everyone a chance to join our boat tour at the next available date!
Alternatively, if the tour does not operate during your stay due to unfavourable weather conditions, you can exchange your ticket for one of the following options:
● A whale watching tour
● A Reykjavik City sightseeing tour, starting at the Aurora Reykjavik Northern Lights Center
● The Adventure menu at Reykjavik's restaurant Kopar, which includes a welcome drink
All the above options cost the same amount as your Northern Lights by Boat ticket.
If you are not happy with any of these arrangements, you are entitled to a full refund.
Due to the fact that sightings of the Northern Lights / Aurora Borealis are subject to both the level of the auroral activity and favourable weather conditions, it is highly advisable to allow 2-3 nights in your schedule for "hunting" the Aurora. It is important to be flexible regarding the timeframe for a Northern Lights tour, in order to maximize your chances of seeing this spectacular, but sometimes elusive natural phenomenon.
The decision regarding whether a Northern Lights tour will go ahead or not on a particular night is usually made around 18:00 (6 pm). The reception staff in many Icelandic hotels will have this information, and you can also telephone the tour provider directly. The tour provider's phone number can be found on you tour voucher.
Note
Mobility issues: If you have any mobility issues, please let us know in advance and you will be assisted. The boats are equipped to be as accessible as possible, and the tour operator is always happy to help out – please just ask.
